Photo relief: a photo as a 3D bas-relief
The AI estimates the depth of your photo right in your browser and turns it into a relief to print: plaque, medallion or oval.
Your photo stays on your computer. On first use, the AI model (about 25 MB) is downloaded and then cached.
Print it flat, back on the plate, with thin layers (0.12 mm) for detail. Paint the relief or use two filaments.

How it works
- Drop a photo: portrait, pet, landscape or monument.
- The AI (Depth Anything V2) estimates the depth in your browser, then the relief is built.
- Set the shape, depth and frame, then download the STL.
FAQ
Is the photo relief free?
Yes: the standard relief as STL is free, with no account. High definition and the two-colour 3MF (back and relief) are part of SplitSTL Pro.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The depth model runs in your browser (WebGPU or WebAssembly). Only the AI model itself is downloaded from Hugging Face the first time.
How is it different from a lithophane?
A lithophane is seen against the light: its thickness follows brightness. A photo relief is seen from the front: its height follows the real depth of the scene, like a carved bas-relief.
